A Nine-Year-Old Speaks to Institutional Racism

This video was filmed by the one-man “Video Catalyst Project,” which is dedicated to bringing unheard voices to the fore. Asean Johnson, age 9, was recorded on the occasion of Chicago’s school closings, and the video really speaks for itself. The video has been watched more than 300,000 times, and we are proud to call attention to it on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the March on Washington. Asean, by the way, was the youngest speaker at the March of Washington held this past weekend.—Ruth McCambridge
