What is the Housing & Learning Center?
The Housing & Learning Center combines a living space and school for Restavek girls into one building. By nurturing the physical and mental health of our residents, Haiti Now will transition the girls out of poverty through Accelerated Education and Business Incubation programs.
Most importantly, at the Housing & Learning Center, the Restavek girls will no longer have to fear exploitation and abuse. They will have a safe place to learn; a place they can finally call home.
Why We Need the Housing & Learning Center
Restavek girls need specialized programs to overcome poverty, exploitation, and trauma. Our compassionate community, quality education, business incubation opportunities, and global citizenship skills, will prepare the girls for a future of economic security.
To prioritize high-quality education and care through ongoing training, psychological support, and daily documentation.
To level the playing field for Restavek girls.
To teach them how to take control of their lives.
Every Restavek girl deserves safety and dignity
How We Measure Growth
We evaluate our students on both academic progress and social-emotional learning. Rubrics are the primary source of our analysis. We use them throughout the education process to ensure our teaching methods remain effective.
Mental health professionals will monitor the girls’ emotional development daily. Our on-site experts will support them. That way, we can help as much as possible.

Explore the Plans for the Housing & Learning Center
The Housing & Learning Center’s construction has been divided into a 3-phase plan. We are still on the first Phase, where we will buy land and build a portion of the school suitable for 30 girls.
The second and third phases will each add the necessary accommodations for 35% more students.
We have a full 3D model of the facility. You may click on each graph’s different parts to have a description of what is bought during that general phase and specific items being bought in each section.

Children’s rights are our highest priority. We train our employees to ensure child protection. The staff knows that Restavek are often abuse survivors and may need significant support to feel safe. They can help the children move past their trauma with compassion.
Our mission is to empower children. We want to tap them into their amazing potential. They will have high self-esteem and the initiative to pursue their own talents. They are the true heroines.
