as stipulated in the General Guidelines for the preparation of Information under the Universal
Periodic Review. Part B notes the continuing practice of restavèk despite its prohibition under
international and Haitian law. Part C describes the restavèk practice and focuses on the neglect,
mistreatment, and abuse suffered by restavèk children. Part D highlights the challenges posed by
cultural perception, ubiquitous poverty, the lack of government infrastructure and enforcement,
and the earthquake on the abolishment of restavèk and the protection of children’s rights
